Happy Valentines Day 2009

I have never been one for gifts. Personally I think things like Christmas are just a big joke because of how pressured you feel to buy “things ” for other people. When did life become about “objects”? Everyone like to have nice stuff, me included. I just don’t like that you feel like you “have to do it”. That being said sometimes I receiving gifts. I would rather give people gifts than receive them. For some reason I feel it’s a waste of money when people buy me gifts, but when I buy someone a  gift it’s a different story. I love getting things for wife, we go shopping almost weekly for clothes for me and I enjoy it somehow, lol.

I’m actually a pretty simple person and spend WAY below my mean, like way, way below.  That being said I wasn’t expecting or wanting any type of gift for Valentines Day. My wife surprised with this (see photos below). I’m a fan of Puma stuff since I was  a kid, so getting this watch was very cool. I actually saw this watch at the Puma store on Granville, a few weeks back and wifey much have remember my comments about it. Thanks honey!!

Tonight we’re going to the Fish House, I’m getting pretty hungry so I can’t wait to start chowing down. It’s all seafood so it’s going to kick ass. Reservations are at 5:00 pm, 1:20 minutes from now. Time to get ready drop off the kiddies at Nonno/Nonna’s house and start this day we  call Valentines.

Automatic Upgrade Plugin Not Working For You?

I was having problems upgrading to WordPress 2.7.1 with the Automatic Upgrade plugin, so I did a bit of research and automatic upgrades are now built in to WordPress. How did I fix it? I deactivated the Automatic Upgrade plug-in and now upgrading automatically works fine with no plug-in necessary. So deactivate your Automatic Upgrade plugin, by going to plugins section and WordPress will automatically upgrade to WordPress 2.7.1  for you, no plugin needed.

Giddy up, easy as pie..

SeaFood & Gallery Photos

I found out that Flickr will only show you most 200 most recent photos in your Flickr account. I am at that point now so either I have to upgrade to a $24 Flickr hosting account so I decided to forget about Flickr and use a WordPress plugin to make my image gallery. I have over 20 gigs of space that I can use on this hosting plan so I may as well take advantage of it right?  Why do I need to pay $25  a year to upgrade to a Flickr pro account, umm no thanks.

Anyhoo you can see most of my images on the newly created “pics”  page located at the top right hand  section of my blog. The plugin I used is called “Next Gen Gallery“. It has a ton of options that are pretty slick. I played around with the options and I’m happy enough with what I got now. Realistically it’s a gallery of images, how many options do you really need right? I set it up last night, so it’s all done.

It’s funny how small things like having a image gallery up on my blog gets me hyped.  I have been “blogging”, even before blogging was even a word. MotionGroove.com was my personal site 9 years ago and then became a corporate site to show clients and now it’s back to a personal space.  Since I have no clients any longer (by choice), I can use this domain as my personal playground.

Caffe Artigiano – More Than Just Cafe Lattes

Me and my wife hooked up with Gianni and Lucy for coffee last night at one of our favorite coffee shops, Cafe Artigiano. I have been going to Cafe Artigiano since I worked downtown at some sweat shop called Zoo Link. Thank God the palced has been closed down for a  few years, goof balls. They have a bunch of locations (downtown, West Van & Kerrisdale), we usually go to the one on Hastings Street in Burnaby.

Anyways the guys (Sammy Piccolo the owner & staff) at Cafe Artigiano are Barista champions. Yes they actually have competitions for coffee tasting, visual appeal and so on.  They hooked our lattes up with some funky designs, that I decided to take photos of. The demonic dog cafe was mine and wifey had the spiderweb soy caffe latte. They look pretty tasty dont they? Yum, yum.

Friday Afternoon Wrap Up – Real Estate, Tenants & Paul Blart

I went to check out 3 condos today with my realtor in Burnaby (close to Lougheed Mall). The first place was nice, dark laminate flooring, stainless fridge, black stove, rustic looking slate tile in one bedroom, nice mocha designer colored walls and so on. It was selling for $210,00 I believe. I will probably put an offer on that one. The other 2 condos were heaps of junk. One place we went into was actually crooked, we walk in and you could actually feel how sloped and crooked the floors were. Actually there were no floors it was green painted concrete (such a dump).  I got a bit dizzy cause the floors were so off balance. They wanted $197,000 for that place, um no thanks. I wouldn’t even buy it for $160,000. The last condo which was the biggest out (900 sq ft) of the 3 condos was too close to Highway 1. It was noisy if you had the windows open even a wee bit.

Anywho, I have to do another tenant showing at the Poco condo today at 3pm (2 people viewing), so instead of backtracking to Kingsway I came straight here at 11 PM and I’m using the Roger Rocket Stick so I can work from here no problem. I feel a bit weird working out of  an empty condo sitting on the carpet but that’s me right, weird.

paul-blart-mall-cop

Tonight I will actually be going out to watch a movie at the MetroTown Silver City theaters, something I haven’t done in many months. We got some movie tickets for Christmas so it’s time we used them. Me and the lady are going to see Paul Blart Mall Cop, with Kevin James. Hes the dude from The King Of Queens, funny guy. He plays a bumbling mall cop and all that goes along with it. I checked the reviews on MyBC.com and 250 user reviews gave it a 4 out of 4.

And that ‘s all folks… Have a great weekend.
