Live From East Van

It looks like April is starting to shape up, lets all bow down to Mother Nature. It has seriously been the longest winter EVER. I am soo ready to dump my hoodie and Puma track pants for shorts and a t shirt, you have no clue. Tomorrow night I’m going to go to the infamous Number 5 Orange in the downtown East Side. The Number 5 is a huge dump but only 1 of 3 strip bars left in the city of Vancouver. It’s a dying industry (or an industry that isn’t allowed to get their permits renewed after they come up for renewal), I’m not sure which one it is.

Hey’ I’m still a guy, just because I have a blog it doesn’t make me some angel.  Keep your opinions to yourself, blah! Enough for today, I don’t have much to say. I just wanted to upload my photos to Motion Groove.

Today I’m going to work from home, not the library. It’s too nice to be in the library all day long. I want to clean up the back yard a bit, sweep the garage and fertilize the grass. Now doesn’t that sound like fun? You know you want to do it to… Yeah, right!

“Life is full of stop signs and green lights. Make sure you view every situation as a green light to move forward into your journey of life…”

That’s all folks.

Such pretttttty flowers located in front of the Renfrew Library.

I don’t know the name of these flowers, should I? They are in black pots in the front yard, wicked bright colors though.

Espresso Coffee, Condo Keys & Divorces

I snapped a few shots this morning. I got up way too early this morning at 4:59 am, and I couldn’t sleep anymore so I rolled downstairs to my computer dungeon. I did a bit of work on one of my websites, then snapped some pics of my morning espresso, yum, yum……

Sometimes I get up really early but it doesn’t seem to bother me too much. I’m wide awake and don’t feel tired at all.  I try to work a bit, just so I feel like the whole getting up early thing isn’t a complete waste of time.

Anyways today I take possession of the Burnaby 2 bedroom condo I bought in November (tenants already in place)! My realtor drops of the keys at 9 am, I will drive down later to take a peek at the place.

Oh yeah the tenants from the condo in Port Coquitlam (bounced check) are  leaving, after less than 2 months! I guess that can happen if you cheat on your wife, then she finds out and wants a divorce! That sucks for me them big time, I feel bad for the wife. I already posted the ad on Craigslist for the last 3 days and will be having a showing today or tomorrow.  I also  raised the rent $25 to $1525, I may as well get more rent just for the headache of rerenting the loft after such a short period of time. Once a tenant leaves I always raise the rent even $10 (usually $50 to $100 though), it’s another $120 in your pocket in 1 years time right? Hey every dollar counts and adds up.

The Weekend In East Van

Now that the kids are asleep and my wife is doing laundry I have a few spare seconds to see the photos I snapped at the B.C. Latino festival at Trout lake, also the ones from our visit to Commercial Drive. East Van as ghetto as people make it out to be isn’t that bad, hell I even live in it. Oh and my house is worth about $950,000, not bad for a ghetto huh?

I consider East Van the Brooklyn (New York) of Vancouver, it is the melting pot of all ethnic groups that come to Vancouver. Commercial Drive is the center of the Italian/Portuguese/Latino flavor in the city. Shop after shop, store after store of food markets, coffee shops and bakeries. Personally I think Commercial Drive has the most “flavor” in all of Vancouver, it has that “neighbourhood feeling”, Brooklyn style.

It’s funny my Canon SD750 always seems to be in my pocket nowadays. I guess since I don’t have to waste hard earned money on buying film it makes it way easier to snap photos of anything I see. You gotta love digital cameras…

How can you not like East Van? Fugedabout!

Ok enough for tonight, it’s 11:46 pm. I need to lie down for 8 hours and then bike ride to the crime ridden coffee shop on Kingsway in Burnaby.
