Rainy Saturday In Vancouver, Again…

Vancouver rain

Another rainy Saturday In Vancouver, this is getting silly. It’s May and Spring is here but where is the sun? No wonder we have soo many coffee shops, you want to go out but staying outside sucks, so we all head to Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Caffè Artigiano or Blendz. Well, baby Matteo, my wife and myself are heading out to the West Vancouver Village (Stefania is going to Nonna & Nonnos house) for some good tasting coffee at Caffè Artigiano (real Italian coffee, not Starbucks Italian wannabee crap).

It’s a good day to test out the new Canon sd750 I bought as well. Sometimes I need a break from affiliate marketing ya know? Time to roll out, meet me in West Van at the village.

Canon SD750 – I bought It A BestBuy

I bought the Canon SD750 digital camera from BestBuy in Burnaby, discounted price for around $200. It’s a 7.1 Megapixel Canon with 3x Optical Zoom lens, pretty sweet. I had a Sony CyberShot 2.0 camera that was getting old as hell, I used it for 5 years, so time for a new one. For 2.0 to 7.1 megapixels, just a wee bit of difference. The SD750 can shoot in really low light, it has ISO 1600, so you can get it shoots in any type of poor light source. I’ll be taking some shots soon enough.

What Do You Truly Want From Your Life?

where are you headed?Without a road map you have no clue where you’re headed right? The journey of life is best done with a destination point. Where do you want to be in 10 years, 10 months, or even 10 days from now? Do you have any idea what you want from your life? What do you envision for yourself in the next 10 years? Personally I plan on being able to be retired actually by 40 years old, just a little over 2 years from now.

I have had this thought since I was a cabinet maker way back in 1998-1999. I wanted to retire by 40, I had no clue how I was going to get there, but here I am 10 years later with the same dream but now its very close to becoming a reality.

How the hell did I do it?

The law of attraction has played an important role, even though I never knew it existed until about 2 years ago. Initially when I quit my carpentry job in October 1999, I had no income for the next 6 months. I busted my ass off in web design school, I had little computer training before this time and it was a struggle. I also had low self esteem, but I did have a drive to succeed. I didn’t want to go back to carpentry that would mean I was a failure, something I wouldn’t tolerate. I did anything in my power to learn everything I could so I would get a job after I finished my schooling.

I was the first person in my class to find a job, almost 2 months before graduation. And I was going to be making more than my previous job as a cabinet maker, I was soo happy. I made it through, never to go back to building cabinets ever again. I doubt many people had faith I could do it, hell I almost didn’t but the drive pushed me through.

And from then on in, it was still tough. I had lots to learn even after I finished my schooling, a totally different environment than what I was used to. I got laid off 5 times. It didn’t matter, I did what I had to to move forward.

I didn’t think things would go the way they did, but the law of attraction guided me through. Eventually I ended up working for myself then I learned about Google Ad Sense, affiliate marketing and so on. Was it easy to learn all of this stuff, hell no! But guess what, you need to know what you want in life, then and only then you will get it.

Would I take anything back in life, nope. Everything has worked out the way I wanted. Even being in a job I hated for 10 years taught me something, it showed me how to be grateful for what I have. It showed me what I don’t want in life and what I do want in life.

And let me tell you something, I was the guy who did shitty in school, never paid attention, skipped classes and so on. I wasn’t a bad kid but I just didn’t care about much. But if YOU have a dream, make it happen. Trust me when I say that you can do it, cause I am no better than you. You need to have a goal and you need to really want it to happen. You need to be driven , lazy people go watch TV.

Write down what you want in life, and pin up on your fridge. Look at it daily, then start doing things that will help you achieve your goal. Only you know what you want from life, everyones goals are different. Remember your goals don’t need to be financial, they can be anything that you want in your life.

Ask yourself these questions:

  1. What are your goals?
  2. Have you done anything to move towards them?
  3. What are you willing to do to reach your goals?

Why do I want to retire?

I don’t want to be 65 years old when I retire, that’s 27 fucking years from now. Why would I want to work until 65, does that make sense to you? I want to have a good life with my family, the ability to spend time with them in my 40s and so on. Working 8 hours a day leaves little time for a life doesn’t it? To me that is a jail sentence, and I want no part of it. I want my kids to have memories of their father being with them all the time. I don’t want to be a stranger to my kids, I want to be there with them. I’m lucky I work from home and they see me everyday, how many fathers have that luxury? I’m basically semi retired already and I wanted it to be this way.

How do you envision your life in the future? If you have no clue what you want from your life, then think about it and then leave me a comment. I want to know what you want from your life so tell me.

Envy Will Get You No Where

Since it’s Monday and it’s raining outside and I did some good work this morning I thought I would post something funny (well I think it’s funny anyways..). This is not meant to offend anyone, so have a sense of humor ok? Thanks. Humor is a great stress release, and this is damn funny. Now back to work I go.

Wasting Time Online, My Solution To Poor Time Management

[ad]Somtimes getting away from the computer is the best way to get work done. I’m the kind of guy who needs to be dragged of the computer most times, call me a little bit obsessive I guess? But lately it seemsI would get on the computer in the morning at 7 am but by the end of the day what did I accomplish? Well, I felt I wasn’t doing much with my day, reading too many blogs, checking my stats too much, checking email every 5 minutes, blah, blah, blah. Bottom line it’s way to easy to get distracted online, the internet is basically one big distraction really.

The problem with working online is that the distraction is alway right in front of you, lol. To get over the amount of time I waste I am changing my routine around. First off, no blog posts until after 5 pm, so that way I have had tons of time during the day to do “real work”. This blog is a distraction but it’s fun. Second before I actually sit down I have a goal in mind that day, I don’t sit down unless I have something in mind to do. At the forefront of my mind is how can I make more money, how can I optimize that campaign better, how can i get more traffic? Thinking about these questions leads to a more productive way of thinking, which forces me to focus on making money. This leads to less time wasted in front of the computer, simple fact.

The bottom line

Basically I am training my brain to focus on ways to expand my income and make more money online all the time. I try not to give my mind free time to wander and waste time. I bet I could work 3 hours and get just as much done as I would in a regular 8 hour day, crazy but very true.

Now that I have 2 kids I need to have better time management, I can’t just sit here all day and night for 15 hours every day of the week Monday thru Sunday. That isn’t fair to my kids or my wife, this is also a reason I need to focus more. I don’t want to be the dad that is “always working”, and never has time for his kids. The reason I work is so I can provide a great life and stable future for my kids and wife. What’s the point in working if I never spend time with them? Life is about family, not money. Money is supposed to be there to pay for your life, money shouldn’t be your life.

How much time do you think you waste in a given day? Leave a comment I’m interested to know your thoughts, as well as tips you use to stay on track.
